Purpose behind our ministry

At First Baptist Mount Ida, we believe a church is not brick and mortar but the people.  The church is wherever our people go.  We believe that we should love everyone no matter what and to pray for those who are lost or hurting.  We also believe the old saying that the church should be a hospital for sinners not a museum for saints.  We are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God.  can also customize the color, font and size of the text by highlighting it and choosing from the various options.

Our Church Ministries

Nursery and Children's Department

We have classes for every age child.  We have a wonderful nursery staffed with caring individuals for infant through 3 years old.  Our Children's Department is broken into Preschool, Kindergarten/1st, 2nd/3rd, 4th-6th all staffed by carefully screened and trained workers to provide the best care for your kids.

College and Career

In lots of places our youngest adults who have graduated from high school and gone on to college or into directly into careers get left out.  We have class just for them.

Married and Single Classes

In our adult classes we have offer several different options.  Two are book discussion based, one is more contemporary with a DVD led class and discussion but all three are open to married or single.  We have two other adult classes, one for our Senior Ladies and one for our Senior Men.

412 Youth

Our youth program is really exciting and fun!  Seventh grade through the 12th are welcome to attend.  We have two great leaders with children of their own in the class.  On Wednesdays they listen to a message, worship through music and end the night in the Gym.

Worship Music

Because we value the importance of old and new , historic and current, we will pray that “the Holy Spirit may lead us into ways of worship that are continuous with the historic witness of worship given to the church throughout its history in the world, and at the same time He may lead us into the discovery of new forms and patterns that meet the needs of the people of our day” (R. Webber, “Worship Old and New” ). Our Worship team consists of 14 year old's up through 70 year old's.

Life Groups / Small Groups

Life groups, also known as "small groups" or "community groups", can help people grow in their faith, develop deeper relationships with other believers, and experience God's presence in their lives. Life groups can provide opportunities for:

  • Intimacy: Life groups can help people develop deeper intimacy with God and other believers.

  • Spiritual growth: Life groups can help people promote spiritual maturity and growth through sharing, accountability, and encouragement.

Our Outreaches

Family Nights

Every Wednesday night during the Mt. Ida School year we have what we call Family Night.  At 5:30 pm our kitchen staff provide a full meal to those who come.  The meal is free to all children and youth as well as adults who don't have the means to pay or donate.  All adults are encouraged to donate but it's whatever God puts on your heart.  We average 120-150 meals every Wednesday night.  At 6:00 Pastor Bill meets with the youth, at 6:30 all children go to their small groups and the adults head to the Worship Center for Pastor Bill's weekly message that always deals with life problems!

Dominican Republic Mission Trip

Our Pastor and his wife have been working in the Dominican Republic for over 25 years.  Each year they take a team to Barahona and work with several churches under the guidance of Pastor Franklin Rodriquez.  This includes a Haitian Church, the Blind Church, a Salt Mine, and Pastor Franklins church. This trip takes place every July and any Christian who feels the call to go and serve in this capacity can get with Pastor Bill and discuss the next trip.

Local Mission Work

Our local Mission work is a daily task.  We always look for ways we can help our community both spiritually and physically.  From working on home repairs, helping with bills, helping with food, taking people to Dr. appointments or taking a knee and praying when we know what your needing.  Local Mission work should always be a main focus of a church and we take it to heart.  Our Family Nights are also a local mission need.  Some of the kids and I'm sure some of the adults get the best meal of the week on us.
